Lectio Contexta

Daily readings and interpretations

Background information

Background – why Lectio Contexta?

Lectio Contexta did not start as a technical plan or church project, but from a simple daily habit.

From daily reading to analysis

I copied the daily Gospel into ChatGPT—not for a pious summary, but to grasp what actually happens, where the tension lies, and why the text still confronts us today.

By refining the prompts, the analyses became richer: historical context, social and psychological mechanisms, and reflection beyond moralizing slogans.

Sharing with others

I shared some texts via WhatsApp as a thinking framework. Responses: “This helps me see differently.” “It exposes what’s really going on.” “More confronting than expected.”

From habit to website

Hence the idea for a site combining the daily Gospel with a contextual analysis that is:

  • historically grounded,
  • intellectually honest,
  • and not reduced to soothing platitudes.

The Gospel texts come from Evangelizo.org in multiple languages. Grateful for that openness.

About the reflections

Reflections are generated with ChatGPT using precise prompts that request:

  • historical grounding,
  • analysis of social and cognitive mechanisms,
  • contemporary relevance without moralizing.

It’s not an “AI meditation” but an analytical lectio: taking both the text and the reader seriously.

Why “Lectio Contexta”?

Because context matters. Without it, text becomes harmless, ideological, or chopped into quotes. Meaning arises where text, context, and human resistance meet.

This site does not impose answers; it aims to help ask better questions.
